Federal Realty Announces Grand Re-Opening of Westgate Center and Welcomes Nike Factory Store and Smashburger Fast-Casual Restaurant This Fall
Grand Re-Opening of Center Planned for Nov. 2, 2013
San Jose, CA (July 23, 2013) – Westgate Center is nearing completion after an extensive $15 million renovation. The center, which remained open during the construction and remodeling work, is getting ready to debut its modern makeover. The updated shopping center will include a lineup of new shops and restaurants, including Nike Factory Store and Smashburger; both to open just in time for the holidays.
After embarking on a major remodel last summer to transform the 52-year-old shopping center, the renovation of Westgate Center will be completed this fall. The one-stop shopping destination will continue to offer family-friendly amenities, adding a 670 sq ft soft-play area for children, updated restrooms and several comfortably furnished common areas. New tile flooring and painting in a contemporary color palette will be showcased throughout the center’s interior. Exterior renovations include a new façade design theme, monument signs at site entrances with lighting and landscaping and an enhanced central plaza with café tables and fountains. A grand re-opening of the 645,000 square foot shopping center is planned for Saturday, Nov. 2.
Nike Factory Store joins a lineup of popular anchor retailers, including Target, Walmart Neighborhood Market, Nordstrom Rack, Ross Dress For Less, Burlington Coat Factory, Michaels, Any Mountain and Old Navy. Smashburger will be among the affordable dining choices at the center and will be located at the main entrance facing Saratoga Avenue.
Nike Factory Store, opening Oct. 31, 2013
The brand defined by the iconic swoosh opens a 17,073 square-foot factory store on Halloween morning with opening events continuing through Sunday, Nov. 3.
As part of the weekend celebration, Nike will host early bird specials, shopper incentives and an enter-to-win gift card giveaway at the new store.

Smashburger, opening late fall 2013
The secret is in the smash for these delicious burgers that are pressed on a 400-degree flat grill to sear in the juicy flavor. A 2,214 square-foot Smashburger restaurant will serve 100 percent Angus beef that’s always fresh, never frozen. To further the “better burger” experience, the burgers are served on toasted artisan buns and topped with a selection of the freshest produce, real cheeses, and highest-quality condiments.
Smashburger’s signature burgers are made to order and the restaurant also serves an extensive menu that includes flavorful grilled chicken sandwiches and fresh tossed signature salads, along with a variety of irresistible sides including rosemary-and-garlic–seasoned Smashfries, fried pickles, Haystack Onions, and Veggie Frites. The restaurant will also serve a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including local beers, and hand-spun Häagen-Dazs shakes.
